Martin Brosi (Product Manager for nuts) and Pascal Schwarz (Head of Food) paid our new partner for Portuguese almonds AMENDOURO in Alfândega da Fé a visit.

Almonds, olives, cork oaks and much more thrive in the lush countryside nestled in the famous Douro Valley near the Spanish border. In addition to wine production, olives and organic almonds are the main source of income in the region.
Joana Araújo who runs AMENDOURO with her brother in the 3rd generation showed us around. Their factory processes both organic and conventional almonds from their own farms in the region and other parts of Portugal as well as from the neighbouring Spanish regions. The quality of the almonds is excellent and meets the high expectations of our customers.
It is apparent, that the Araújo family works with a great deal of commitment for the future. In this context, both the processing plant as well as the product range is in expansion as more and more farmers from the region are gradually also converting to organic cultivation.
